Mark Jones Repost: Five Fabulous SharePoint Announcements

Howdy!

Firstly, you wouldn't believe how popular last weeks 'SharePoint Developer Tools' list was! At the time of writing this we have had 1933 views and 81 votes. 'ILSpy' and the 'SharePoint Code Analysis Framework (SPCAF)' are currently your joint top leaders. As you have an obvious appetite for lists (and I don’t blame you), we created two more! This week’s lists cover ‘SharePoint Admin Tools’ and ‘SharePoint Migration Tools’. (Don’t forget to add your own and vote for your favourites!)

This week’s announcements …

SHAREPOINT ADMIN TOOLS LIST

This list contains all of the big tools like AutoSPInstaller and SharePoint Manager, but there are also a few hidden gems in there.

SHAREPOINT MIGRATION TOOLS LIST

We set this list up on Monday and it has already seen some aggressive voting. We do have a clear leader to this date, but I won’t give any clues ;)

CONTEST: HELP OTHERS PREPARE FOR THE SHAREPOINT 2013 EXAMS

We are hoping to build 4 fantastic study guides for the SharePoint Certifications that will help others prepare and study. If you are studying for a 2013 exam - can you help share links and resources? As an added incentive we are giving away 120 dollars to the person that contributes most.

FEATURED GROUP DISCUSSION

We very often create regular discussions that encourage healthy debate and one we would love to hear your thoughts on is : “What is a SharePoint Architect ?”. Can you list the roles and responsibilities that a SharePoint Architect should carry out ? Is an Architect really a senior SharePoint Lead Developer, or something much different?

SHAREPOINT COMMUNITY REPS

SharePoint-Community.Net has got really busy! We have attracted 800 members in just 6 weeks! Vlad and I soon realised that managing, moderating and running the site on our own wasn’t sustainable. We have day jobs, partners, dogs and children who also need our time ;) To help us we have approached a few members who have already proven themselves as big contributors. These members are now our ‘Community Reps’. As a thank you to them and an opportunity for you to get introduced to them, we have profiled each one in the link below.

DOCREAD FOR SHAREPOINT

Remember I mentioned I have a day job? Well it’s working on DocRead for SharePoint. DocRead allows you to send out important documents to groups of users and ask for them to read and confirm them by a deadline. It’s really easy to use for both a publisher and end-user. I’d be so grateful if you could take 2 minutes to have a look. If you work for, or know of an organisation who may be interested, please let us know – if you need an additional incentive, we offer a referral fee!).

TOP SHAREPOINT BLOGS LIST

As mentioned in our intro, this list is popular! It details over 40 developer tools that you may want to check out.

THE GREAT SHAREPOINT SURVEY

We have had some really good responses so far, but need more! If you have 5 minutes to spare, let us know what you really think of SharePoint. As soon as we have the results, we will share!

MAXIMIZING SQL 2012 PERFORMANCE FOR SHAREPOINT 2013 WHITEPAPER

We have just released a *superb* complimentary whitepaper exclusively to community members. This whitepaper has been developed by our very own SharePoint-Community.net co-founder, Vlad Catrinescu. If you are an Admin - you will love this easy to follow guide. (It's also backed up with test results so you can see evidence of the improvements).
